Description
ESP8266 ESP 12E WiFi Module is based on the ESP8266EX micro controller from ESPRESSIF. It is must have for any WiFi based projects nowadays. Many of the WiFi based IoT, and automation devices are using this module. This module has inbuilt WiFi along with MCU, and so does not need any external micro controller, it can be used directly.
It contains SoC with integrated TCP / IP protocol stack, and using it can give access to WiFi Network to any micro controller. It can also host application or otherwise offload the task of WiFi Networking from any micro controller.
This ESP 12E WiFi module comes with AT Commands Firmware, thereby allowing us to get functionality just like Arduino WiFi shield. The inbuilt firmware can also be replaced by uploading your own firmware, according to your needs, modules’ memory and processor. Apart from all this, this module is very cheap, and has huge and growing community worldwide. It removes the need of external MCU based on the task at hand. And it has 7 GPIOs.
This ESP8266 ESP 12E WiFi module has 80 Mhz low power 32 Bit processor, in which custom firmware can be loaded. It can also host small web pages without any external controller. The ESP8266 supports APSD for VoIP applications and Bluetooth co-existence interfaces, it contains a self-calibrated RF allowing it to work under all operating conditions, and requires no external RF parts.
Difference between ESP8266 ESP 12E and ESP 12F WiFi Module:
The ESP8266-12E is similar to ESP8266-12F is almost all terms, the only difference is the antenna on the ESP8266-12F has better performance than the antenna on ESP8266-12E. Otherwise, both of them use the same internal SoC chip and same flash. The ESP8266-12F module is RoHS Certified.
The ESP8266 12E is more widely accepted in the market than the ESP 12F.
NOTE : The module is only compatible with 3.3 V Logic Level and will not work directly with 5 V Logic devices.
